Family of Guatemalan teen who died in U.S. custody want answers after his death

Video: Brother of Chapel Hill victim tells vigil, 'We will move on with dignity'

Farris Barakat, the older brother of Deah Barakat, who was killed alongside his wife and her sister in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, said at a vigil on Wednesday night that he’s received messages from people apologizing for the actions of the man who shot his family members.

“Trust me,” he told the crowd, which he said was so big he couldn’t see the end of it. “As a Muslim, I know that one act cannot define a mass.”

Farris said he wished his brother could have been there to see the outpouring of support.

“We are going to move on — move on with dignity,” he said.
