Nothing makes you reevaluate your life quite like a family reunion. For Daily Show Senior Latino Correspondent and comedian Al Madrigal, his family reunion prompted a mission to answer one of his life’s most confounding questions: What does it mean to be a “half-y?”
In his new one-hour special, “Half Like Me,” Madrigal goes on a journey to find out how to be a better Latino (note the sarcasm).
In anticipation of the documentary’s release, Alicia Menendez sat down with fellow halfies and “AM Tonight” friends, Fusion Silicon Valley Bureau Chief Alexis Madrigal and communications consultant Bettina Inclan, to discuss what it means to have a multi-ethnic identity. Are you less of a Latino if you can’t speak Spanish? Do all Latinos love tacos? Is ignorance truly bliss, or just a recipe for an outlandish stereotype in the making?
You’ve got questions. We’ve got some stories to tell you about why those questions are ridiculous.
Be sure to catch “Half Like Me” on January 22 at 10 p.m. ET, premiering on Fusion.
