The United States Office of Personnel Management, also known as the OPM, runs the civil service arm of the federal government. According to the OPM’s website, the department aims to “recruit, retain and honor a world-class workforce for the American people.”
Katherine Archuleta was sworn in as the 10th and first Latina director of the OPM on November 4, 2013. Director Archuleta spoke to Fusion Producer Eric Herbst about her career in public service, her first-year accomplishments, and how the OPM connects with young adults.
“The general public needs to be served by federal workers who look like them… We’re focused in on diversity and inclusion and bringing up those numbers of underrepresented groups,” Director Archuleta said.
