Be Careful After Watching 'The Purge: Anarchy,' You Might Just Believe It's Real

Have you ever binge-watched a TV series all in one day – and you step outside expecting the TV show’s plot to be a reality.

For example:
Series: “The Walking Dead.”
Your expectation after binge watching: “Oh no! Zombies are going to get me during my walk to get ice cream.”

“The Purge: Anarchy” is exactly like that.

Writer and Director James DeMonaco created a society that mandates an annual “purge,” a 12-hour period during which all crime is legal, including murder. Actors Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, and Michael K. Williams bring DeMonaco’s creation to life, making it realistic…almost too realistic.

After leaving the theater, it feels as if the siren signaling the commencement of the purge is about to sound.

“The Purge: Anarchy” is a sequel to the original “The Purge,” released in 2013, which, if we’re being honest, didn’t get the best reviews.

But “The Purge: Anarchy” is another story. It’s compelling, intense, and terrifyingly entertaining. In other words, definitely go see it on July 18th.

Fusion’s Jess Blank sat down with the cast to learn more about this horror movie.
