Rosario Dawson: Immigration Reform Isn't an 'If,' It's a 'When'

In the 10 years since Rosario Dawson co-founded the non-partisan political organization called Voto Latino, it has registered nearly a quarter million voters and has encouraged Latino youth to rally for immigration reform. A major part of Voto Latino’s success has been the support of celebrities like Dawson and actor Wilmer Valderrama.

Fusion Live’s Mariana Atencio caught up with the actors at the Voto Latino Power Summit in Miami to talk immigration reform and the recent Eric Cantor news.

“Maybe a certain vote didn’t go in a particular way, but that doesn’t mean that issue suddenly disappears. This conversation of immigration reform isn’t about an ‘if,’ it’s just about a ‘when,'” Dawson said.

“It’s more of an incentive for us as a community to be louder, and I got to also say to all the politicians, if you don’t take this {immigration reform} serious you are about to really anger a soon-to-be majority of the country,” Valderrama said.
