As residents of Ferguson gathered Tuesday morning to cleanup local businesses after a night of unrest, Fusion’s Mariana Atencio spoke to a several business owners about what the grand jury decision means for their community.
Tim Norman, owner of Sweetie Pies Restaurants, says his four locations in the St. Louis area couldn’t open today. “It’s going to cost the city a lot of money to rebuild this,” he said.
But Cathy Jenkins, owner of Cathy’s Kitchen, said that while her restaurant’s windows were broken last night, she was surprised to find there this morning ready to help pick up the broken pieces.
“I was angry last night,” she said. “I’m disappointed today. Now I am thankful for what I see the city of Ferguson as a community coming together to do. This is what Ferguson really is. A community coming together.”
