Earlier this year, civil rights activist DeRay Mckesson was invited to the White House to meet with President Obama; he’s sat behind Stephen Colbert’s desk to give the host a lesson on white privilege, and he happens to be one of the ten people that Beyoncé follows on Twitter. But the only thing that matters to Mckesson these days is becoming Baltimore’s next mayor. As a leader of the Black Lives Matter movement, he’s ready to take on the responsibility of an entire city, despite what his critics may think.
