Glenn Greenwald: FBI was 'so clearly lying' about Apple case

Journalist Glenn Greenwald, known best for his reporting on the classified documents leaked by Edward Snowden, told Jorge Ramos that the FBI was “so clearly lying” about not being able to crack the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone.

Greenwald said that the FBI did not, in fact, need Apple’s help in the matter, but rather was trying to create “a precedent that forces Apple to literally use their own labor, and their own brain power, and build software for the U.S. government that would let the U.S. get into every iPhone, not just this iPhone.”

Greenwald said the fact that the FBI ultimately unlocked the iPhone in question only proved the government’s plan to have full access to communication devices at will.
