Youth activists in Venezuela and Taiwan: the 'enemy' in protests movements is more than one person

At Fusion’s RiseUp event in Washington D.C. on November 19th, Jorge Ramos asked activists in the room – Yon Goicoechea (Venezuela), Wei Liulin (Taiwan), Chernor Bah (Sierra Leone) and Gisela Perez de Acha (Mexico) – who is their enemy?

In Venezuela, activists such as Yon Goicoechea once focused their attention on deposing former President Hugo Chávez. Chávez is now gone — he passed away in March 2013 — but the regime continues under current President Nicolás Maduro. “What we have learned is that Nicolás Maduro may not be there, but the system will prevail,” Goicoechea said.
