American college students in Havana discuss Obama's visit

Jorge Ramos and Alicia Menendez spoke to two American college students from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. The students are in Havana during President Obama’s visit to the island, and spoke about the general feeling on the ground among Cubans as the country prepared for the first visit from a U.S. president in nearly 90 years.

Katherine Trujillo and Peter Sacco said there has been a lot of excitement around Obama’s visit and Cubans are hoping that both countries benefit from it. The students talked about favoring the use of soft power to instigate change on the island, and that there is a definite hope for democracy among Cubans, particularly in light of Raul Castro’s claim that he will step down in 2018.
