Adan Canto is being called the ‘Mexican X-Man.’ Canto plays the first ever Latino character in the “X-Men” franchise, and it’s his first major film role.
Fusion Live sat down with the actor to chat about his role as the mutant Sunspot in “X-Men: Days of Futures Past,” the seventh installment of the franchise.
Naturally, we had to ask Canto about working with such a star-studded cast of actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and Sir Patrick Stewart. But it was Hugh Jackman who really surprised the actor. “I was walking and all of a sudden I hear, ‘hey mate,'” Canto said impersonating Jackman’s accent. “And it was this guy eating a sandwich. ‘You want to workout?'”
Canto said the best advice from the set came from Sir Patrick Stewart, who Canto compared to his character, Professor Xavier. “A lot of wisdom….all this experience in the field,” Canto said.
You may recognize Canto from his role on “The Following” but you may not know Canto was a professional singer in a jazz band. Watch the clip to see him serenade the hosts of Fusion Live.
Don’t miss Adan Canto in “X-Men: Days of Futures Past” when it hits theaters May 23.
