How Thailand's Klom Pren Prison Turned Into the Real Life 'Gladiator'

Fight your way out of prison: sounds like “Gladiator” or “Bloodsport,” right? Well, that’s almost a reality in Thailand. Coconuts Bangkok takes us to a Klom Pren prison where an organization called Prison Fight aims to rehabilitate Thai prisoners through Muay Thai boxing. The catch? They’re pitted against foreigners.

As part of the program, Thai prisoners who fight in the matches and win, can potentially have their sentences reduced. They are literally fighting for their freedom.

“The Thai inmates are in a much more precarious situation where they are literally fighting for more time outside prison walls,” said Coconuts Bangkok multimedia director, Alexander Hotz.
