The just-finished Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was the biggest musical event full of singers you’ve probably never heard of. The U.S. doesn’t participate–which is why few in this country pay attention–but everywhere else it’s a huge deal, drawing upwards of 100 million broadcast viewers. The annual contest pits one song from each country in Europe (plus Iceland), and asks voters from across them to pick their favorite. The result? A television event full of flash and unabashed cheese–and it’s amazing. Here are some of our favorite picks from this year’s edition.
