When we think of prisons, art is not something that comes to mind. But decades ago, the practice of drawing on fabric with a pen or a pencil, became common among incarcerated Latinos.

At first, these paños– as they are still called- were a way of communicating with loved ones outside of jail; but later, it acquired a much broader meaning. Recently, Fusion Live’s Pedro Andrade went to New York City to discover more about this unique artistic form.
