In an interview with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos on Wednesday, senior advisor to the president Valerie Jarrett said the White House strongly supports the actions made by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
“I think it sends a message not only throughout the NBA, but also to the players, the folks who come to watch the games, and to the private sector in general about what’s acceptable behavior in this country and what is not acceptable,” Jarret said. “We commend Adam Silver for his bold move.”
Jarrett also serves as the Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls, and is preparing for a June summit that will look at how women and minorities are faring in the work place.
