Fusion investigative reporter Alissa Figueroa recently published a story about two mothers losing their kids due to their marijuana use. Even more shocking is that both mothers lived in the progressive medical marijuana state of Michigan and had their own medical marijuana cards.
And there’s more: one of the mothers had such debilitating “hyperemesis gravidarum” – severe morning sickness – that she lost 20 pounds during her pregnancy…until medicinal marijuana help her gain back the weight.
Fusion’s chief cannabis correspondent, Ryan Nerz, was so moved by the story that he decided to explore the topic a bit further. He interviews one of the article’s sources, Columbia psychiatry professor Dr. Carl Hart, to get a better sense of the scientific underpinnings of marijuana use during pregnancy.
