In an interview with Barbara Walters on Tuesday night, Donald Trump defended his proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. When asked by Walters if he was a bigot, Trump replied, “Not at all, probably the least of anybody you’ve ever met.”
Rather than point to more examples of Trump’s obvious racism, Walters simply responded, “Because?” To which the current Republican frontrunner offered, “Because I’m not. I’m a person who has common sense, I am a smart person, I know how to run things, I know how to make America great again.”
So I guess the takeaway here is that everyone you’ve (we’ve) ever met has also called Mexican immigrants rapists and murderers, said they would shut down mosques, entertained the idea of making Muslim Americans register in a database, called Syrian refugees terrorists, and threw their support behind a group of people who assaulted a Black Lives Matter protester, and then did… something else really racist that Donald Trump hasn’t done yet?
Cool, got it.
