Wasteland: A First Look

Why the next president should make great sex education the law

Telling kids that the only safe way to have sex is to not have sex just doesn’t work. Which is why Joanna Schroeder, a contributor to the popular parenting website Babble, is urging America’s next leader to make it a law for students all over the country—not just in certain states—to get accurate, comprehensive sex education lessons in school.

“Abstinence only programs don’t work,” she says. “Its time is now—we need to end these high rates of teen pregnancy and STIs, and we can do that with comprehensive sex ed.”
