Fusion's Jorge Ramos on what he learned covering the 2016 race

Tavis Smiley on Obama: "Presidents have to be pushed to be great"

Tavis Smiley is known for interviewing celebrities and grilling politicians on his own show on PBS, but he recently showed off his dancing ability on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” (Note: ABC is a parent company of Fusion.)

In a recent interview, Smiley spoke to Fusion’s Jorge Ramos about his elimination from the dancing show, his new book about civil-rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and why he is openly critical of President Barack Obama.

“Great presidents aren’t born. Great presidents are made,” Smiley said. “They have to be pushed, held accountable, if they are going to be great.”

Smiley recently published his latest book, “Death of a King: The Real Story of Doctor Martin Luther King Jr’s Final Year.”
