The key to any good film is the cast’s ability to make you forget that they are actors, as they transport you to a world where only their characters exist. Unfortunately, some movies just don’t work out that way.
David Beckham starring alongside veteran film tough-guy Harvey Keitel in a biker-goes-to-the-circus short film called “Outlaws” is one of those times. The official plot synopsis won’t do much to help you get over the mental hurdle of David “The Dandy Chimneysweep™” Beckham as an actor, either.
OUTLAWS IS A SURREAL FILM WITHIN A FILM STARRING DAVID BECKHAM AS THE STRANGER – A MYSTERIOUS DRIFTER AND MOTORCYCLE STUNTMAN, HAUNTED BY MEMORIES OF A BEAUTIFUL TRAPEZE ARTIST AND HUNTED BY A MANIACAL DIRECTOR SEEKING REVENGE.
Sure. Why not?
When you realize, however, that the only reason “Outlaws” exists is to sell you this fine-lookin’ jacket from Belstaff, all of this starts to make a lot more sense. After all, nothing says “outlaw” like $1,950 worth of “traditional handwaxed leather.” I assume, but cannot independently confirm, that handwaxed leather is a better grade of cowhide than traditional butter leather.
This leather jacket is iconic in more ways than one: As well as featuring legendary moto design details, it is a key look for David Beckham’s character in his film, Outlaw, and will remain a symbolic part of Belstaff history for years to come. In a more lightweight version of our traditional handwaxed leather, it also has a secondary wax treatment to increase the vintage patina.
That’s a badass waxy jacket you got there, Dave Beckham.
The film made its world debut today. Watch it in its full 17:28 of glory below, then immediately go spend a few weeks’ salary to look fly on that motorcycle your significant other won’t let you buy. Consider it an investment in your future. You’ve earned it.
