Democratic presidential primary contender Martin O’Malley recently showcased some of his musical talents during an interview with Fusion’s Alicia Menendez. When he is not trying to become leader of the free world, the former Governor plays lead guitar and sings in a Baltimore Celtic rock band known as “O’Malley’s March.”
Sitting down at his campaign office alongside his daughter, Grace O’Malley, the candidate outlined his proposal for a national service plan, and talked about the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray before playing an acoustic version of Passenger’s “Scare Away the Dark.”
The image of O’Malley playing his guitar in a busy campaign office is not unlike the scene at the beginning of the original Passenger music video.
However, if O’Malley wants to be able to compete against Kanye in 2020, he may want to consider learning a track or two off 1989.
