Super Bowl For Starters: A Crash Course From ESPN's 'First Take'

Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVIII pits the Seattle Seahawks against the Denver Broncos, in the frigid climes of New York (well, actually, New Jersey). The event signals pageantry, crazy fandom, food, big-budget commercials, and, oh yeah, a sports game.

But do you really have to know anything about football to enjoy it? We’re betting not really. So we sent Fusion correspondent Arielle Castillo (@ariellec) to find out. Imagine a football expert. Okay, she’s the opposite of that.

Luckily, we got to check out a live taping of ESPN’s “First Take” to get the scoop from hosts Skip Bayless, Cari Champion and Stephen A. Smith. We also ran into comedian Mike Epps, NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson and current New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who all helped explain a little bit about sportsball. Wait, football.
