Hundreds of protesters in Baltimore defied a citywide curfew which went into effect at 10 p.m. last night, following a night of looting and burning the night before.
The death of Freddie Gray, who sustained spinal injuries while in police custody, has sparked unrest in the city, just 40 minutes away from the nation’s capitol. Fusion’s Tim Pool was on the scene, where he witnessed a standoff between police and protesters post-curfew. Rocks and bottles were thrown at law enforcement, who responded by firing what appeared to be pellets at protesters and media. At one point Pool “took fire from an impact weapon that shattered, spraying me in the eyes with debris.”
