MAGIC! is literally the chillest, nicest band ever, and now we have proof. You most likely know these Canadian hit-makers for their double-platinum hit, “Rude,” from their debut album, “Don’t Kill the Magic.”
Recently, they released a new music video, “No Way No,” with which they hope to duplicate the same success.
Here’s the premise, more or less: The band’s lead singer, Nasri, is trying to get with the pretty girl who is (for lack of a better word) kind of rude and standoff-ish. Meanwhile, drummer Alex Tanas, bassist Ben Spivak, and guitarist Mark Pelli rock out during the whole cat-and-mouse-game.
That’s all part of keeping the tension of a great song narrative, the band says. “We have a three minute and thirty second song we have to go through and say ‘No Way No’ a whole bunch of times, stating things…” says Pelli. “…If we just said, ‘Do you want to get down?’ and you were like ‘Sure,’ then we’d have no pop song.”
That’s not all that’s going on with MAGIC! right now, though. This summer, they’ll tour Europe with Maroon 5. They’ve also been nominated for two Billboard Music Awards — something for which they’re particularly excited, they say, because they want to see Britney Spears.

So we caught up with the guys in New York, where they took their shirts (or rather, red jackets) off their own backs to let us feel like we fit in. Such gentlemen! Check out the video for more.
