Today’s the day. The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is kicking off in Bata, Equatorial Guinea. Of course, that means soccer will be played. In fact, two games of the soccer will be played today.
The festivities begin with hosts Equatorial Guinea taking on a Congolese team coached by a disheveled Claude Le Roy, the French hitman-for-hire who has basically coached every team in Africa. Burkina Faso and its colorful bunch, that includes the iconic Aristide Bancé and midfield string-puller Alain Traoré, will play Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-led Gabon. Good times will be had by everyone, especially the Obiangs.
Right. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the music. What you’re about to listen to is a 2015 Cup of Nations song called “Hola, Hola,” featuring Cano, Molare, Manni Bella, Toofan, Eddy Kenzo, Singuila, Arielle T et Wizboyy. You’ll immediately note that it’s a fine departure from Shakira-based World Cup songs. You also may note the Charlotte Hornets Larry Johnson jersey on the beach. All of these things are positive.
Per usual, AFCON-related music is better than all other continental tournament music. This is just a fact.
