Emile Ivanhoe Heskey scores for Bolton, deserves an England call-up

Former England international Emile Ivanhoe Heskey is back in England kicking balls for Bolton Wanderers in the Championship. He came on today at halftime and paired up with former Bolton hero Eidur Gudjohnsen to lead Neil Lennon’s side to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Blackburn.

The key stat of the day:

Given the pair’s combined age, it was only a matter of time until the sophistication broke through.

That was Gudjohnsen with the vision and assist, and Heskey with the goal. But that was only the equalizer.

After the match, Lennon quipped:

“I’ve got two old age pensioners playing for me. A lot of people were laughing behind our backs bringing these guys in.”

That’s nonsense. No one was laughing.

Darren Pratley scored the winner for Bolton, but that’s not really important here. The important thing is that Emile Heskey needs to be called up for England. It’s only right.
