Brad Friedel flashes his U.S. national team bonafides by nailing this half court shot

Is this the new ice bucket challenge? Who knows. Social media’s amazing and confusing, and it’s entirely possible random people launching shots from half court is the latest internet craze. Since we’re now writing about it, the craze must be over, but we digress …

But among the latest randos to try their luck from 47 feet is former U.S. international and lingering Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who joined three of his Spurs teammates in trying to match the exploits of Geoff Cameron — the only American who nailed a shot when a group of U.S. national team members tried their luck while in London.

Friedel, in what we should consider the tiebreaker in the great him versus Keller versus Meola versus Howard U.S. goalkeeper debate, made his final shot, thus validating the time we wasted watching the other 15 misses.

Just days into the season, we’ve already got our first Christmas miracle.
