Lionel Messi’s reward for creating a game-winning goal was a bottle to the head

Valencia almost made it. Ninety-four minutes into its La Liga match against Barcelona, the game was scoreless and Los Che were seconds away from a precious point. But sadly for Valencia, Barcelona still has the anti-Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, who put in the cross that ultimately ended up on Sergio Busquets’ left foot. And the rest, as they say, was deep depression for Los Che fans. Or something like that.

But for some clown in the Mestalla crowd, depression turned into a desire to practice bottle tossing. Unfortunately, the tossed bottle ended up finding Messi’s head. The little Argentine’s reward for celebrating a moment of his creation and not being a bastard was a bottle to the head.

The referee, David Fernández Borbalán, gave Messi a yellow card for time wasting.

We need to do better as humans. Just a little bit better. It isn’t much to ask, is it?
