It’s assumed that last night’s Eastern Conference Championship loss was Thierry Henry’s final game in Major League Soccer. Though rumors persist he may take a short, final bow outside MLS, last night’s 2-2 draw in Foxborough, Mass. — a result that saw New York exit the playoffs 4-3 aggregate losers to New England — was his final appearance for the Red Bulls.
After the game, knowing that the press was looking for a definitive statement about his future, or at least a summation of the season that just died, TH14 went out in the most appropriate way possible. Henry waited for the media to assemble, gave them four words, then walked the hell out.
Long live the King.
