The Controversial Rise of Brazil’s Evangelical Child Preachers

The World Cup is finishing up its group stage, but we want to go beyond the stadiums and take a look at a growing trend in Brazil: the rise of the evangelicals and child preaching.

Evangelical denominations are up from 5 percent of the population in 1970, to 28 percent today. Meanwhile, only 57 percent of Brazilians now call themselves catholics, down from 92 percent in 1970.
