How Tech Can Benefit From Immigration Reform

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg put a practical spin on immigration activism last week when he convened a group of tech-minded undocumented young people for an immigration hackathon in Mountain View, Calif.

Their task: build apps that would help the immigrant rights movement.

But tech has a lot to gain from immigration reform, too.

About half of the engineers in Silicon Valley are foreign-born, and the industry is hungry for more visas to allow workers to come to the U.S.

Fusion’s Derrick Ashong visited the DREAMer hackathon last week, and he spoke about it Wednesday on “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.”
