If you know anything—anything at all—it should be that the internet loves Futurama, the Fox show that has the distinction of being a commercial and critical success as well as a cult favorite. Whether or not you’ve watched Futurama, you’re probably familiar with Zapp Brannigan, the incompetent and misogynist spaceship captain with legs for days, who may or may not be reminiscent of another incompetent misogynist who is also failing upwards, hurtling toward the most powerful office in the nation. Trump. I’m talking about Donald Trump.
Well last night, Billy West, voice of Brannigan (and most of our childhoods), released a few recordings in character as Brannigan, reading actual quotes that Donald Trump has actually said, sparking the hashtag #MakeAmericaBrannigan and well. The only way to describe it would be to put on a chef hat, slap on a borderline offensive mustache, close my eyes, and gently smooch my fingertips.
Thank you Mr. West. Between this and the Simpsons prophesying Trump’s presidential bid, it’s clear that
we should probably just write in Matt Groening as a third-party candidate Matt Groening will save America.
