The pope arrives Friday night in Mexico City and the Mexican internet is already abuzz.

Mexicans in recent years have honed their skills at discussing world events through internet culture, whether it’s mocking ISIS through memes or using Google Maps to denounce corruption.

Now the Mexican internet is preparing for Pope Francis’ visit with a holy slew of hashtags, emojis, and memes.

Twitter has launched a series of emojis to celebrate the pope’s Mexico trip, featuring iconic places such as the Cathedral in San Cristobal de las Casas in the southern state of Chiapas.

Mexicans have also unleashed a wave of memes to commemorate and mock the pope’s visit.

Mexicans are loving and hating the official anthems the government has commissioned from local artists to welcome Francis:

Francis is also upping his social media game. Before leaving Rome, the Pope took to Twitter to tell the world he will ask Mother Mary to look after his trip to Mexico:

“In Mexico I will look into Mary’s eyes and will pray that she doesn’t stop seeing us with mercy. I know entrust our Holy Mother with this trip.”

The pope has also dropped a series of videos to communicate his message directly to the world’s youth.
