People on Twitter are mourning the anniversary of the death of Robbie Williams, who is still very much alive

Robin Williams passed away one year ago today. Many fans have taken to social media to share remembrances of the beloved actor, known for films like Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumanji.

But British singer Robbie Williams? He’s alive. Nevertheless, well-meaning Twitter users are commemorating the loss of #RobbieWilliams, echoing a phenomenon that occurred shortly after the American star’s death.

It’s easy to see how this confusion (be it in the form of a typo or a full-blown case of mistaken identity) could come about: Robbie Williams’ Wikipedia page even begins with a he’s-not-Robin-Williams disclaimer.

The late comedian’s page bears no such warning.

The 41-year-old Williams — the one who’s still with us — made headlines several days ago for countersuing his former assistant, who accused the pop star and his wife of sexual harassment. Between that and today’s unlikely spike in Twitter popularity, we suspect he’s not having a great week. Sorry, Robbie.
