Wojciech Szczesny has a tiger on a leash

This is how to do vacation photos. Getting high on hippy crack, sprawling out on a street, being pictured in an Ibiza club with women half your age?

Not for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. He scorns such conventional, predictable activity. No, he takes tigers for a walk. Behold the man. He’s fearless, quirky, relaxed. He doesn’t care that Arsenal seem about to sign Chelsea’s Petr Cech. Has Cech been pictured taming a tiger recently? He has not.

On vacation in Thailand, the Pole uploaded a picture to Instagram of him holding a tiger by a leash with the comment “took my new baby for a walk”. We’ll assume that’s mud just above his left ankle, not a bloody gash and that Szczesny kept a tight and solid grip on the chain, though given his form last season, that seems far from certain.

With European players set to return to their clubs for preseason training in only a couple of weeks, this is a strong contender to be the summer’s strangest vacation photo … with all due respect to Tottenham’s Nabil Bentaleb, who went on holiday wearing his work clothes.

And Wenger himself, in this shirt.
