The chaaaaaaaaaaaampions. That is how the Champions League anthem opens, but it might as well be Bayern Munich’s club anthem as well.
Bayern has won the Bundesliga! Again. Thanks to Wolfsburg’s Sunday loss at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Germany’s title race is over with four rounds to play. Now Bayern officially gets the trophy that we mentally handed them on the first day of the season in August.
The Bavarians have now won the league three years running now. They also have the chance to win the DFB-Pokal for a third year running, too. And two years ago, they won the UEFA Champions League and still have a chance to repeat the feat this season.
It’s almost like Bayern Munich is way better than every other team in Germany or something.
Bayern have won 24 matches, lost two and drawn four in the league this season. They’ve scored 77 goals and conceded 13. That, in layman’s terms, is really fucking good.
It’s not like the Bundesliga is a joke either. Borussia Dortmund may have collapsed, but Wolfsburg is a fantastic team. So is Bayer Leverkusen, who proved it in making the Champions League knockout stages. Even Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke are good sides, and there is a fair amount of depth, with everyone down to Hertha Berlin in 13th place proving solid. And yet none of that matters to Bayern Munich, which steamrolls them all.
At this point, the Bundesliga should stop giving Bayern a trophy. It’s boring, and we all know who is going to get it. The league should instead give trophies to whichever teams magically beat the Bavarian giants. So this season, Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach get trophies for doing the impossible and beating Bayern! Congratulations!
Let’s be honest: Bayern is so damn good that beating it is way more amazing than Bayern Munich winning a league, even for a third or 50th straight time.
