Most people would be content with a photo and an autograph when meeting Manchester United’s stars, but not the fan who handed manager Louis van Gaal a summer list of transfer targets.
Fans with life-limiting illnesses visited the club’s training ground for a Dream Day where they got to watch training and hang out with their heroes. In the video, one tells Van Gaal: “I did some homework for you. I brought the transfer list.”
The Dutchman goes through it and replies: “Thank you for your advice. You are smart,” later telling an interviewer, “he didn’t tell me who I have to sell, but after a little bit of pushing, I know. Next year we are the champions.”
Here’s what that intelligent fan came up with:
Hummels 36 million pounds
Clyne 50m
Pogba 75m
Bale 120m
Jackson Martinez 25m
With United reportedly having just put in a bid for Mats Hummels – though it’s said the price was more like 22 million pounds – maybe Van Gaal’s taking the shopping list seriously. Although at a total cost of more than 300 million pounds, maybe not.
As if that wasn’t enough, the video also shows a kid who asks Marouane Fellaini: “Is your hair real, or is it a wig?” (It’s real, he replies, not sounding surprised by the question.)
